Mrs. Yvonne Marie Smart, 45, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Amorem Burke Hospice, Valdese, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Smart was born February 25,1978, in Columbia, SC, a daughter of Kay Greene McCarthy and the late Robert McCarthy. Yvonne was a caring and loving person and exhibited it by her employment as a CNA in the healthcare industry.
Surviving are her loving husband, Matthew Smart of the home, a son, Matt Smart and a daughter, Alayna Smart both of the home. Also surviving are her mother, Kay Greene McCarthy of Boiling Springs, SC , a brother, Bobby McCarthy of Boiling Springs, NC and a sister, Crystal Pfeilar, of Boiling Springs, SC and grandson Atlas Howerton.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday February 19, 2024 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Rev. Marvin Wiley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Monday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.

So sad to hear about Marie’s passing. Sincere condolences, peace and comfort to her family and friends. She was such a bright spot of joy that she spread to everyone. The load and mood were lightened by her when our work was really hard and stressful. You will be missed Marie . Fly high my sweet friend.

This absolutely broke my heart to see Marie is no longer with us here on Earth. I worked with her for many many years at Broughton. We shared many laughs and many inside jokes. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family especially her children as I can recall when they were just young children and the many stories she told about them.
