Peacefully and surrounded by family, Waits Eugene Hoilman passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on January 25, 1941, in Avery County, NC, to the late Howard and Hattie Hoilman.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Linda G. Hoilman of the home. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother, Howard Hoilman Jr. and wife Nina of Plumtree, NC; sister-in-law Alma Hoilman of Elk Park, NC; special nephew Shawn Hoilman and wife Chantae of Newland, NC; and special friends Herb and Toni Dills of Valdese, NC. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Troy Hoilman (and wife Beulah), Ralph Hoilman, Roy Hoilman (and wife Norma), and sisters Joda Mae Hoilman Perry, Betty Hoilman Brewer, and Zulene Hoilman Hollar.
Waits was known for his strong will, tireless work ethic, unwavering determination, and deep love and support for his family and community. Along with his wife, he was a devout member of Amherst Baptist Church in Morganton, NC. Together, Waits and Linda owned and operated Hoilman Motors for 30 years. While Waits enjoyed trading cars, his greatest passion was raising, riding, and showing Tennessee Walking Horses—a love that forged lasting friendships across the country.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, at Heritage Funeral Services in Valdese, NC
Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Harold Joplin officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amherst Baptist Church (1024 Amherst Rd, Morganton, NC 28655) or Amorem Hospice of Valdese, NC (902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenior, NC 28645).

So sorry to hear about my Uncle Waits. He and Aunt Linda will always whole a special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Linda during her time of grief.
Toni and I moved into the Bass Avenue community about ten years ago waits and Linda lived straight across the street from us we started talking and we found out that we had about the same things in common and that is keeping our yard as neat as we could and then we started helping each other Toni and I are going to miss waits so very much I know that he is in heaven because I asked him if he was ready to be with Jesus he said yes I am so to Linda and the entire family God bless you and keep you
