Ms Shirley Rae Neal, 81, of Hickory, passed away on Friday December 30, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center, after a period of declining health.
Ms Neal was born December 26,1941 in Catawba County, a daughter of the late Howard and Carrie Sigmon Clark. She was retired from the textile manufacturing industry. Shirley was a member of the Salvation Army Church and a very caring person, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Clark, Jerry Clark and a sister Elizabeth Watson.
Surviving are her children, Darla Stephens and fiancé Jonathan Shook of Taylorsville, Danny Marshall of Hickory, Darren Buff and wife Kimberly of Rocky Mount, Va., and sisters, Brenda Clark of Hickory and Scottie South of Hudson. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kaddie Kade ,Shea Marshall and Joshua Buff, two great-grandchildren, Dallas Marshall and Addley Hollis, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Shirley Rae Neal will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday January 2, 2023 in the Salvation Army Worship Center, Hickory, with Major David Repass officiating. A private interment will be Wednesday January 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Catawba Memorial Park.
The Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 P.M. Monday at the Salvation Army Worship Center Hickory.

Rest in peace, Shirley. You were a beautiful soul and you loved your family and your church. I am glad you were my mother in law and am glad to be part of your family.
