Mr. Ross Edward ‘Ed” Fidecaro, 75, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by his family, at Carolina Caring Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ed was born on September 7, 1949, in Seattle, WA, to the late Joseph Fidecaro and Thelma Grice Fidecaro. He was a retired truck driver and a talented master carpenter, and an elder of Marketplace Church in Hickory.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Melody Fauver Fidecaro of the home, and his five children: Dean Fidecaro and wife Jackie, Dina Lane and husband Ken, Caleb Fidecaro, Sarah Huffman and husband Mark, and Emily Rose McGuire and husband Zack. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Jordan Fidecaro, Chey Lane, Felix Fidecaro, Ash Huffman, Lucy Huffman and Quorra Huffman, and two great-grandchildren, Luca and Leon Lane.
In Ed’s own words, “My name is Ed. For those of you that are obsessed with statistics, I’m 75, bald, absolutely no experience with writing professionally, and my wife of 42 years says she’s gorgeous. (Oddly enough, she thinks I’m gorgeous too, which is an indication of her mental state.)”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Marketplace Church in Hickory, with Pastor Mark Myers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Being a gorgeous man inside and out.

My Love and prayers are with the Fidecaro family as they walk through this difficult time. Please know how much support you have and how much you are loved. Ed was a great friend who always loved on my family and I always enjoyed talking home projects with him. Today my heart hurts for the family, but I smile knowing Ed is with his savior, pain free, and talking shop with the Master Carpenter.
Just wanted Melody&family to know what a pleasure it was to be a friend of Ed.He was such a talented guy.He will surely be missed by everyone in his circle of friends
I had the great pleasure of meeting Ed and Mel and spending time with them and their family during several visits I made to their home when they lived in New Zealand.
Ed was a tremendous family guy who would do whatever he could to help whoever needed help without question.
My thoughts and prayers go to the family at this time.
May God bless you all.
