Randy Lynn Buchanan, 53, of Morganton, passed away at home on Friday, March 28, 2025, following a brief illness.
Randy was born on July 2, 1971 in Burke County, a son of Barbara Young Buchanan and the late Robert G. Buchanan. Randy loved his family, especially his nephews, niece, great nephew, and great niece. He was an excellent gift giver with a knack for selecting practical gifts. Family and friends always looked forward to what he would find for them. Often, this would take the form of CDs and music selected from his love of 70s and 80s classic rock. He loved motorcycles and horses. When riding, he would always stay toward the back of the group with his toolbox at the ready to repair any malfunctioning bike. He had a gift for repairs on small engines and anything else mechanical. He was a no frills attached sort of person who appreciated the simple things that give life meaning. Most importantly, he was never seen without a Sundrop.
In addition to his father, Randy is preceded in passing by a brother-in-law, Bennie Davis, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Barbara Young Buchanan; sisters, Laura Cornett (Dwayne), Bobbie Settle (Chance), and Robin Davis; nephews, Chris Carone, Evan Carone, Heath Settle, Mason Settle, Noah Davis, and Eli Davis; niece, Lydia Davis; great nephew, Kade Carone; and great niece, Berkley Settle.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 5 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Daniel Buchanan and Pastor Chance Settle officiating. Inurnment will follow at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Service on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3 PM to 5 PM.
Heritage Funeral Service is assisting the family.

I am so sorry Barbara, Bobbie , Robin ,and Laura. Your family has always been such a blessing to me and mine. May God comfort you all during this hard time. I love you all so much.
Randy was what you would call a good soul. He always had a smile, he would speak to everyone and made you feel what you were saying was important and then he could tell you a funny story to leave laughing. In that respect he was a lot like his daddy Robert. He will be missed by everyone especially his family but it just keeps making us all long for Heaven that much more where there will be no more goodbyes.
I am so sorry to hear bout Randy. My heart breaks for you all. Prayers for peace.

Family I’m so sorry to hear about Randy.
I have many fond memories of us as kids playing at the hardware. Robert told me one time that Randy worked two jobs; one to support himself and one to help others in need. He definitely had a big heart and a burden for others. He will be missed by many.

Sorry for your loss. I was Randy’s insurance agent forever, and I always looked forward to his visits in my office. He was one unique and caring person. Prayers for you all!
Randy was my oldest and best friend, of 42 yrs. He had a big influence on me and the way I looked at life. He was always there in the highs and the lows. I loved Randy as much as I do my brothers, no matters how long the conversation I always told him that in loved him at the end. We talked about everything , had no secrets from one another. I know he will be missed by many, but I think I will him most of all he was my confident, my brother, my teacher ,my ride or die , but most of all my friend.
