Penny Dale Hudson, 56, of Morganton, passed away on Monday November 20, 2023 at her residence after a period of declining health.
Penny was born July 18, 1967, in Dade City, FL, a daughter of the late Horace Elzie and Viola Ruth Hudson. Penny served as a police officer with the Morganton Department of Public Safety and was the first female Road Deputy with the Buke County Sherifs Department. She also worked with the NC Department of Correction. Penny cherished her time with her friends and family and especially her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Hudson, Bland Hudson, sister, Carrie Carswell and nephews, Kevin Carswell and Jerry Hudson, Jr.
Surviving are her Canine Companion, “Izzy Hudson, siblings, Bob Hudson (Marilyn) of Morganton, Ruth Reynolds (Richard) of Sunset Beach, NC, Peggy Lail of Morganton , and Lyndon Hudson of Morganton. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Bobby Hudson, Robin Hudson, Ryan Reynolds, Reagan Reynolds, Danny Carswell, Jeri Berry, Pam Hudson, Kim Hensley, Matt Chatman, Jedadiah Chatman, Samantha Smith, Jenny Smith, Savanah Hudson, Victoria Hudson and Natasha Jarvis, and a number of great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday November 24, 2023 from 12 until 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. A Graveside Service will follow in the St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery with Jedadiah Chatman officiating.

Penny Dale was truly one of a kind. She was a wonderful friend and always willing to help others when they needed it. We had some fun times together and I will forever cherish these memories and our friendship. Rest in heavenly peace.

I will miss my sweet friend it breaks my heart I can’t see and talk to her but I know penny did not die she just changed addresses if she could say something to us right now it would be for everybody to be ready to go I love you penny
Dink was a great friend to me for many years. I will forever cherish our times together. We looked forward to our fishing trips once the work was done. We never went anywhere that Dink did not know at least one person in the room. She will be missed by many. I will keep an eye on the Tarheels and Cowboys, and work to pull them through. Rest in peace my friend, without pain or worries.
We certainly had some great times. RIP Penny. You will be missed by so many.
