Lynda Mae Hice Lockee, 87, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Berkeley Exceptional following a period of declining health.
Lynda was born on May 14, 1936, in Burke County, a daughter of the late Gaines and Grace Watson Hice. Lynda was very active in her lady’s group at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She was passionate about her church and service to the Lord. She developed a love of cooking in her role in the cafeteria at various elementary schools. No one would leave her house hungry. Her famous red velvet cake will be missed by family and friends.
Lynda loved her time at the Berkeley. The family would like to thank the staff at the Berkeley for making her feel at home during her time there.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Gerald Spencer Lockee; a brother, Carroll Kenneth Hice; and a sister, Betty Hice Bleynat.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Katie Townsend; sister-in-law, Linda Hice; daughter Geraldine Bock and husband Duane; grandchildren, Albany Bock and Alex Bock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Shady Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12 PM with Rev. Duval Mason and Rev. Bobby Hallyburton officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Shady Grove United Methodist Church from 10:30 AM to 12 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church at 6908 Oak Ridge Church Rd., Connelly Springs, NC 28612.
