Joyce Smith Brittain, 74, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at UNC Blue Ridge Morganton, following a period of declining health.
Joyce was born October 8, 1949 in Catawba County to the late Virgil Smith and Mary Duncan Smith. She worked as a branch manager for Members Credit Union and was a faithful member at Icard Church of God. Joyce was a loving wife, had the patience of God, and a Granny to all. She enjoyed crafting and cooking for other people in need.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Racheal Houser, Buddy Smith and Betty Lou Lowman.
She is survived by her husband, James Brittain; son, Jason Brittain and wife Tonya; daughters, Joyce McSwain husband Matt, and Angel Smith and husband Jimmy; and grandchildren, Kaliegh Brittain, James Brittain, Sierra Smith, Autumn Heath, Sam McSwain, and Sadie McSwain. Also surviving are her siblings, Kay Bedford, Loyce Mooneyham, and Julious Smith and wife Sarah.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Icard Church of God with Pastor Tim Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.

I’ve known Joyce for a long time. We started out as neighbors and our children loved her very much. I know her family is hurting and I want you all to know you are in our prayers.
