Jimmy Lee Brittain, aged 81, of Connelly Springs, departed this world for his heavenly home on April 16, 2024.  Jim passed away at his residence after facing declining health for several months with unwavering strength and dignity. Born in Lincoln County, NC, on  August 24, 1942, to Purlia and Cleo Kiser Brittain, Jim’s earthly journey has been one of hard work, obedience, resilience and devotion to his family.

Jim thrived his entire life by pouring his time, efforts and energy into his family and his work at Duke Power until his retirement in 1998.  He furthered his education after high school by graduating from Nashville Auto Diesel College in Tennessee.  He was an active member of St. John’s Baptist Church in Connelly Springs until he was rendered homebound due to his ailing health.  Blessed with two partnerships in marriage, Jim loved profoundly and without reservation, finding happiness, family and love with Lottie Lail Brittain for 39 majestic years until her death in 2001, and then finding love again and companionship with Joyce Lingerfelt Brittain for 16 heartfelt years until her death in 2021.

Jim leaves behind not just a family—children Amy Martin and husband Tony; Karen Brittain, and Matthew Brittain; grandchildren Hunter Martin and wife Kiara, Secolia and Danielle Bishop, Kacey and Aiden Brittain; great-grandchild Cleo; and his brother Scott Brittain and wife Nell—but a legacy of hope, perseverance and inspiration. Despite the sorrow of having predeceased family members, including his parents, his sister Shirley Hildebran, and spouses Lottie and Joyce, Jim’s life story is a testament to the power of love enduring forever.  Jim has joyfully joined his heavenly family and his earthly family looks forward to the day when we will see him again.

Jim’s memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew him. The family would like to thank Amorem Hospice and Pallative Care for their service, time, patience and compassionate care for Jim and his family the last several months. A very special thank you to his weekly visitors and caregivers, Amber, Kira, Lisa and Thurman.  A Private Graveside Service for the family will be held to honor Jim’s life at St. John’s Baptist Church cemetery in Connelly Springs with Pastor Thurman Roe officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Johns Baptist Church at 6141 St Johns Church Ave, Connelly Springs, NC 28612.
