Mr. Jackie D. Brittain, 73, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Carolina Rehab Center, following a period of declining health.

Jackie was born on October 9, 1949 in Burke County to the late “G.O.” Grace Ollis Brittain and Fern Speigle Brittain.  He was a member of Morganton First Church of God.  Jackie was a mechanic for many years, and he loved working on his hot rods.  He is best remembered for his “Green Monster” which he enjoyed racing.  He greatly enjoyed music and loved to play guitar.  He loved to hunt, especially duck and deer.  He played with and coached for the men’s softball team at Morganton First Church of God in his more active days.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his siblings, Bobby Brittain, Bill Brittain, and Jean Small.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kasie Hildebran (Mark) of Connelly Springs, Josh Brittain (Brandy) of Vale, and Kerri Poteat (Josh) of Drexel; grandchildren, Graham and Graleigh Hildebran, Bryce and Colton Brittain, Breanna Carpenter, Grayson Barnwell, and Maggie and Dawson Poteat; special friend, Buck; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Morganton First Church of God with Rev. Doug St. John and Graham Hildebran officiating.  Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
