David Eugene Sawyer, 64, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at AMOREM of Valdese following a period of declining health.
David was born on December 30, 1960 in Oakland County, CA, a son of the late Jimmie Delmar and Betty Jo Williams Sawyer. He had a passion for vehicles of all types. He spent many summer afternoons riding his motorcycle, and he owned his own body shop for many years. As part of the work he did, he painted vehicles for Bill Elliott and Tommy Houston. He was an adventurous individual who loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by a brother, Delmar Lynn Sawyer.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-five years, Susan Sawyer; sons, Chad Sawyer (Brooke) and Tyler Sawyer (Samantha); stepdaughter, Michelle Powell (Charlie); Grandson, Gunner Sawyer; siblings, Dawn Sawyer and Dennis Sawyer; and nieces, Ashley Francum and Haley Sawyer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. David Workman, Jr., officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Service from 1 PM to 2 PM.

David was a good man . I meet him thru my husband Charles Hoyle which he did several jobs for us on vehicles . Which he always did a great job . Praying for his wife and family . He will be missed .
David was a good friend and former business partner.We shared the same passion for for working on cars,racing and many other activities.Working with David I learned how to become more efficient while keeping the quality of the work on the highest level.I will miss him dearly.
