Bishop Cade Reavis Burns Jr., 78, of Drexel, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Carolinas Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Cade was born October 8, 1946 in Catawba County to the late Cade Burns Sr. and Edna Miller Burns. He was Pastor of The Church of Jesus Christ in Lenoir for thirty-seven years and served honorably in the United States Air Force. Cade will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and pastor. He loved to attend cruise-ins in Valdese and Lenoir and loved showing his 1968 Camaro, that he has had since he was in the military. Cade also enjoyed reading, studying his Bible and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Wanda Helms Burns; daughter, Autumn Sain and husband Kyle; granddaughters, Kerrigan Sain and Karleigh Sain; sister, Gloria Settlemyre and husband Larry; brother, Dennis Burns and wife Judy; and niece, Sandra Knuckles and husband John.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 3:30 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Joseph Hildebran, Pastor Rick Dowden, and Minister Phillip Helms officiating . Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Memorials will be made to The Church of Jesus Christ at 1322 Underdown Avenue, Lenoir, NC, United States, North Carolina.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
