Yates Richard “Fuzz” Jensen Sr. born Feb 10, 1944 went onto glory Friday surrounded by his family after weeks of suffering. A devoted and dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, businessman, avid outdoorsman and lifelong native of Rutherford College loved and known by many– Richard lived a life of service.

He helped incorporate the town of Rutherford College in 1977, served as a councilman for 20+ years and established a legacy of civil service with his son Yates currently serving as Mayor today. Richard served as Scoutmaster of Troop 195 for many years and was a positive influence for many young men. Richard taught school for 28 years and coached football 22 years at the Junior high level often known for being a positive and caring role model to many students.
He established a successful lawn and landscaping business in 1972 where he imparted a strong work ethic onto his family and his son Matt owns and operates it today.
Richard loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends and helped introduce many to the sport. He helped establish a local chapter of the NWTF raising thousands in funds for years and was recognized at the State level for his contributions.

He leaves behind his devoted wife Jane of 56 years who he loved and adored deeply; 3 sons and daughters-in law; Yates & Tammy, Matt & Suzanne, and Joe & Sherry who all loved him deeply. His legacy includes 8 wonderful grandchildren who he considered his greatest blessing; JR and wife Kendall, Hunter, Mattie, Trey, Jacob, Tate, Ava, and Sam. He was extremely proud of each of them and bragged on them often.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 6, 2022 at Abernethy Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Kaury Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church.
