Whisper Amagen Moore, 35, of Morganton, passed away on Friday February 28, 2025.
Whisper was born in Morganton, NC on Tuesday, April 11, 1989 to her mother, Lisa McVey and father, Wayne Allen Moore, Sr.
Whisper lived at home with her mother Lisa, and as a child attended Tabernacle Christian School, Salem Elementary, Table Rock Middle school and Freedom High School, graduating in 2009. Whisper would fish all hours of the day, unless she was riding her horses Magen or Dollar. She enjoyed English competition jumping and later western competition. She also enjoyed watching Sponge Bob cartoons or playing her Nintendo DS of her PlayStation 5. Her mother could always see her in her bedroom, petting her fat cat Max, her dog Chloe and Bandit, her guinea pig. Whisper really loved going to Myrtle Beach with her family or friends, for a great vacation. She would listen to music on her boom box, while sitting on the balcony, looking at the ocean and watching birds flying around. She also loved going shopping for movies or games to buy.
“Whisper was the best baby girl a mother could ask for, even a really well-mannered teenager. As a young adult her love of horses and animals was truly special. She walked to the beat of her own drum. As a mother I feel truly blessed to have her for 35 years, 10 months and 18 days, until God called her home. Loved by your mother, forever and ever, until we are together again.”
Survivors include her mother, Lisa McVey Skarpalezos, her father, Wayne Allen Moore, Sr., half-brother, Allen Moore Jr., stepfather, Aaron Cole Skarpalezos, stepbrother, Matthew Devan Skarpalezos, and stepsister, Hailey Nicole Skarpalezos. Also surviving are her grandparents, Thad McVey, and Ginny and Charles Skarpalezos, aunts, Phyllis McCombs and Wanda Ellis, uncles, Larry Shell and Billy Ray Keller, great aunt, Becky Keller, Uncle Phifer and Betty Brown, cousins, Chad Oscar McCombs, Gary Lee Moore, Thaddeus Shell, Chaz Shell, Randy Keller and Pam Brown, her fiancé, Eugene Warren Grethen and close friends, Erika Gibbs, Lindsey Marlow, Tammy Curtis, Clara Rogers, Blaine Webb and William Cantrell.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Danny Castle officiating. Entombment will follow at the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
