Mrs. Vivian Lee Hudgins Townsend, 78, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, following a period of declining health.
Vivian was born February 3, 1946, in Yancey County, NC, to the late Alvin Hudgins and Velvie Robinson Hudgins. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Lenoir and was previously employed in the textile and furniture manufacturing industries. Vivian will be remembered as a selfless person with a beautiful heart and one who took care of her family. She enjoyed gardening and canning her harvest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Judith Hudgins, Able Hudgins and JD Hudgins; sisters, Evelyn Hensley and Vivileen Stafford.
Surviving is her husband of 42 years, Jerrill Townsend; daughter, Tina Jo Keller and husband Charlie; granddaughter, Kristeena Kayla Keller; son-in-law, Zachary Roberts; great-great grandchildren, Kalie Rose Roberts, Andrew Wilson Roberts; brothers, Karl Hudgins, Otis Hudgins and Joseph Hudgins; sisters, Edith Bradshaw, Wilma Piercey and Mildred Shehan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday June 15, 2024, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with a graveside to follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

I worked with both Vivian and Jerrill for years at the old Impact furniture company. I loved them both as family. My heart is hurting and I have cried since learning of Vivians passing. Jerrill I love you brother, we will all be together again one day.
