Virginia Jean Evans Oxentine, 79, of Valdese, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Amorem Hospice following a period of declining health.
Virginia was born on June 13, 1945 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Marshall Bud Evans and Dorothy Knox Evans. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and worked in the furniture industry. Virginia loved the Lord, her family, and church family; and reading her bible.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Ray Evans, Bill Evans, and Frankie Evans.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Edwards and husband Dewayne, and Lisa Carrick and husband Andy; grandchildren, Chris Edwards (Ashley), Wesley Edwards and wife Alison, Kayla Webber, AJ Carrick, and Jon Carrick; and great grandchildren, CJ Edwards, Makenna Edwards, Jaxson Edwards, Carter Grace Edwards, Brantley Patrick, and Grayson Wade. Also surviving is her brother, David Evans and wife Cindy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Stephen Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
