Tok Hui Kang McMahan of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2023. Tok Hui was born on February 27th, 1950 outside of Busan, South Korea. At twenty years old she married and moved to the United States to a little town in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She quickly learned to speak English, took classes, and became a proud US citizen. Affectionately known to her new family as Judy, she learned to cook southern meals and shared many Korean dishes with others. Feeding others was one of the ways she showed others her love. She loved Jesus, the mountains, gardening, finding a good deal, and she was the best at pinching a penny. She spent a lot of time outside in her yard tending to her garden and to her beloved chickens. She never showed up empty handed when visiting others and always shared all that she had to help someone else. Her family was important to her and is survived by her husband David McMahan, her two daughters, Diana Hosse and Dee Anna Clarke, their husbands, Westbrook Hosse and Brent Robinson and her pride and joy grandsons, Harrison and Holden Hosse. Her family is thankful for the care that she received at UNC Health Blue Ridge Hospital and at the AMOREM Hospice House in Valdese, NC. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to AMOREM’s Valdese location.
