Thomas Nolan “Tommy” Thornburg Jr., 52, of Hickory, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Tommy was born February 13, 1971 in Catawba County to Thomas Nolan Thornburg Sr. and the late Carol Huffman Allen. He was an out going person that enjoyed helping people, working on small engines, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Nolan Thornburg II; aunt, Judy Punch; uncles, Frank Huffman, and George Huffman Jr.; and cousins, Steve Punch and Steven Thornburg.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas Lee Thornburg, Randy James Thornburg (Treana), and Michael Thornburg; brother, Miles Allen Thornburg; and granddaughter, Raelynn. Also surviving are his aunts, Della Young and husband Clyde, and Toni Huffman; his dog, Spud; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
I am so sorry that Tommy has left this world so soon! He was such an interesting person. Rest easy my friend! You have peace like no other now!
Tommy you will always be missed and loved by many, and your death has left a huge hole in my heart that I’ll never get over.. you were my best friend for years and years, and I know I was yours too. Things will never be the same without you, and I’ll think about you daily until we meet again! Rest easy!

Dear Tommy although I didnt know you as good as jeff and kim and alot others in my family I thought you were a great guy specially for taking such good car of spud your faithful companion he loved you as much as you loved him you are missed and always rest assure never forgotten
