Mr. Thomas Joe McDaniel, 60, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at UNC-BR Morganton, following a period of declining health.
Tommy was born on October 22, 1964 in Burke County to the late Ray Clemet McDaniel and Garnie Brown McDaniel. He was previously employed as a framer in the furniture industry and loved to spend his spare time fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR and pulling for the Tarheels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Lynn McDaniel and Donnie Ray McDaniel.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Rhonda Buff McDaniel of the home, two sons, Thomas Keith McDaniel and wife Kristina of Valdese, Jonathan Ray McDaniel and wife Brooke of Granite Falls, and one daughter, Kristen Smith and fiancé David Bowditch of Hildebran. Also surviving are his five grandchildren: Trinity McDaniel, Kaydence Vanhorn, Raygen McDaniel, Bryson McDaniel and Kaden McDaniel.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.at Abee’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rudy Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
