Tex Burns, of Connelly Springs, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Tex was preceded in death by his parents Tom & Bernese Burns, brother Clifford Burns, sister Susie Greene, & the love of his life Peggy Hodge Burns.
He is survived by his siblings, Bob Burns (Jewell), brother-in-law Carl Greene, Gary Burns (Lorene), Grant Burns (Carol), Jeanne Wade, Jackie Crump (Terry), Robin Burns (Darlene), & Tommie Spake (Robbie), and a great many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Tex was the owner of Tex’s Fish Camp where he provided jobs for hundreds of teenagers over the years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He taught those same skills to many kids throughout his lifetime.Tex was well respected and loved for his reputation in the community and for his work ethic. He will be remembered by many for his tough exterior and his giving spirit. Everyone that knew him wanted to claim a special kind of relationship with him because he was that admired and will leave a legacy for generations to come.
Tex requested no service be held, but a celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
If you wish to honor Tex, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Carolina Caring (3975 Robinson Rd Newton NC 28658) who cared for Tex with love and compassion.

A Tribute to Uncle Tex
There are some people in life who leave a mark on you that time can never erase. Uncle Tex was one of those people for me. He was a truly unique soul—honest to a fault, never one to sugarcoat his words, especially in his later years. As dementia thinned his filter, his words may have become a little sharper, but his heart remained just as full of love and wisdom.
Tex had a way of seeing the world that was all his own, and in that, he taught me so much—not just about life, but about authenticity, about always speaking the truth when it mattered most, and about the kind of person you ought to be. Not everyone is lucky enough to have someone who shapes them in such a profound way, and I will always be grateful that I had him in my life.
Uncle Tex, your impact lives on in the lessons you shared, the honesty you embodied, and the love you gave. Rest easy, knowing that you made a difference.
Praying for Tex’s family and all the Burns in that circle❣️Always loved his friendly words as we would come & go from Tex’s. 🙂🙏🏻🙌🏻

So sorry to hear this! The Robbins family lifts the Burns family up in thoughts and prayers!
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Burns family, including the Tex’s Fish Camp family. Tex was a kind soul. I don’t think he ever met a stranger and if he did, they weren’t a stranger for long. I know he loved and cherished all his family and those who became family through working at the fish camp. Go rest high on that mountain Tex. I can only imagine all the great fishing and hunting up there in Heaven.
Tex was a good man. I was fortunate enough to work with him at the fish camp many years when I was a teenager. He was the best boss I have ever had. Prayers for the family.
Tex was a great guy. I know he is up there with his classmates Cooz and Blue. I hope heaven has some good fishing creeks. Sending prayers for the family – we are the unlucky ones. Tex is pain free and in a place beyond our understanding.
