Sybil Carswell, beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away on June 30, 2023, in Valdese, NC, at the age of 67. Born on February 16, 1956, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Sybil dedicated her life to caring for her family and helping others, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Sybil was a loyal and caring wife to her husband Victor, whom she lovingly supported for the past 20 years as he faced disability. She was a devoted mother to her son Carl, providing him with unwavering love and support throughout his life. Sybil’s nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family as she cared for her mother until her passing in 2010. She was a pillar of strength and the glue that held her family together.
Professionally, Sybil served as a Medical Assistant at the Good Samaritan clinic, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients. Her commitment to providing care and comfort to those in need was truly admirable.
Sybil’s memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband Victor E. Carswell, her caring son Carl R. Simone, and her devoted sister Beverly Kimble. She is preceded in death by her mother, Candy White, and her father, James Montello.
Sybil Carswell’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Her selflessness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends will be remembered and cherished forever. Sybil’s legacy serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us to prioritize the needs of our loved ones and to give our all, just as she did until the very end.
In honoring Sybil’s memory, her family kindly asks for privacy during this difficult time. On Saturday July 8th at 11am services will be held at Solid Rock Baptist Church at 2505 Burke Memorial Park Rd, Morganton, NC 28655 with Pastor Stacey Layne officiating.
I will miss my beloved wife until we meet again. She was a pillar of strength and devotion for all that knew her.

Victor, Carl and friends of Sybil……..My heart aches just knowing my dear friend is gone from my sight; however ; I know that she is heaven with Jesus where there is no more pain or sorrow. Sybil and I experienced God working in our lives and the lives of those we served together at Good Sam Clinic. Sybil was the best friend.
