Mrs. Stephanie Aileen Cox Shuffler, 43, of Valdese, passed away peacefully, on Friday, December 9, 2022 at her residence, following a courageous battle against cancer.
Stephanie was born on June 28, 1979 in Burke County to Stephen Cox and Anna Abernethy Cox. She was a member of Valdese First Baptist Church, and was the longtime owner of Mimosa Beauty Salon in Valdese.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Lucille Cox.
Surviving is her husband, Alan Shuffler and son, Connor Gentry of the home, parents, Stephen and Anna Cox, mother in-law, Marilyn Shuffler and three stepchildren, Tabatha Stephens, Alexander Shuffler, and Mattie Waddell. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, April and John Abernethy, Harriet Abernethy, cousins, Caine Phillips, Emma Brown and husband Jeremiah, John Balew Abernethy III and wife Kelly, and James Abernethy, her longtime best friends, Jenny, Anna, Crystal, Amy, Trina and Kristy, and Connor’s father, Scott Gentry.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Valdese First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Josh Lail and Rev. April Abernethy officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M at Valdese First Baptist Church.

To Alan, Connor and the family. I am so sorry to hear of Stephanie’s passing. She was an inspiration to so many of us. Alan and family, You’re all in my thoughts and prayers; sending my heartfelt condolences. I’m just so grateful that Stephanie and I met several years ago when she did Mamas hair. As you know, better than others, she’s a precious soul. She is living; just at her new Heavenly address now. While I’m sure that gives you great peace, I can’t imagine how much you miss her.
