Mrs. Shirley Kate Baker McLean, 71, of Connelly Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Magnolia Lane Nursing Center, following a period of declining health.
Shirley was born on September 6, 1953, in Rutherford County to the late Charles Thomas Baker and Helen Cogdell Baker. She was a member of South Mountain Community Church and was previously employed in the food industry for 25 years, including running the Twin Circle Grill for 15 years, serving the best cheeseburgers and hot dogs in ten counties. After closing the grill, she later went on to work as a supervisor over the kitchen at Broughton Hospital and remained there up until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Rex and Ricky Carswell, a grandson, Jacob Wright, and three brothers, Tommy, Stanley and Roger Baker.
Surviving is her son, Tim Wright and girlfriend Mandi Parker of Connelly Springs, a granddaughter, Rashell Wright, and bonus grandchildren, Joshua Whitesides, Faithley Fortenberry, Zane Parker, Ashton Parker and Kadence Parker. Also surviving is her sister, Karen Baker Carswell, special nephew, Marty Shelton, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at South Mountain Community Church, with Rev. Brian Gragg officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at South Mtn. Community Church, 3321 Baptist Camp Rd., Connelly Springs, NC 28612.
