Sharon Renea Houston Kitchings, 61, of Granite Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Kindred Hospital following a period of declining health.
Sharon was born November 19, 1963, in Burke County, to the late James Arthur Houston and Margie Gragg Houston. She retired as a sales representative. Sharon liked to find recipes online for Bill to cook and she loved college football, especially ASU Mountaineers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Tanner Austin Kitchings.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Billy Kitchings Jr.; son, Landon Kitchings; sisters, Cynthia Beard and husband Billy, and Sheila Stamey; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Mindy Snyder, Sharons home health nurse, for her love and care given to Sharon and to the family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Stephen Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.

I met Sharon when my grandchildren started Wittenberg Elementary and became fast friends.
I couldn’t ask for a kinder, sweeter person than her. My heart hurts for Landon and Bill. Please know Sharon is with Tanner now and dancing in Heaven.
