Roy Shane Epps, 58, of Granite Falls, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Atrium Health Wake Forest.
Shane was born August 11, 1966 in Burke County to the late Earl Franklin Epps Jr, and Rebecca Conley Epps. He pastored Lakeview Baptist Church, where he enjoyed playing his cajon drum and singing; and he worked in the furniture business as a service representative. Shane dearly loved his family, church members, and friends. He loved the Carolina Panthers and trying new foods; but most of all he loved playing with his grandson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Scott Epps.
He is survived by his wife of 37 ½ years, Julie Safford Epps; son, Zac Epps and partner Melanie Davis; daughters, Cortney Smith and husband Zach; Sydney Epps Huffman and husband Dalton; grandson, Hayes Huffman; and cousins, Shonda Epps Page, and Stephanie Epps Harris. Also surviving is his aunt, Michelle Epps; father-in-law, William Bill Safford; and brother-in-law, Billy Safford and wife Tracey.

Shane made a difference in my life. He was a true, true, man of God. Julie you and your family are forever in my prayers.
He was a great man. Always enjoyed talking to him. He was always uplifting and you left feeling fortunate knowing him. He will be missed but know he is with the one he taught and preached about. Until we meet again.
My prayers and condolences to Julie and the kids, and family. I work at Hickory Chair and saw Shane quite often. I know we will miss seeing his smiling face.
We had many conversations about many subjects. He was a great guy
This man was the absolute PERFECT example of the hands and feet of the Jesus he loved immensely. He touched the lives of every single person he came in contact with. His sense of humor broke down every wall that anyone could ever have. He loved Jesus, and every word he spoke made it evident. The world is truly a bit dimmer having lost his light. Shane has hugged Jesus! I pray for peace for his family!
Shane will be missed. He had a peace and a calming spirit about him. He gave good advice on life situations, but above all of this he loved Jesus.
Dear Zac and family,
Your ASI family is so sorry for your loss. Please know you are all in our hearts and prayers.

My condolences and prayers to Julie and all those affected by Shane’s passing. I remember in high school, and I knew he would be a great person and someone who could and would touch the lives of many. It’s hard to say an early goodbye to anyone but knowing Shane is in God’s hands means he is in a much better place and the promise we will all see him again in heaven with renewed lives is what makes life worth living for. God Bless You All.

Thoughts and prayers to Julie and family. Worked many hours with Shane while working at Valspar. Shane was a talented color stylist who created beautiful finishes for our customers.
