Mr. James O. “Jimmy” Bounous, 73, of Valdese, passed away unexpectedly on Monday October
28, 2024, while at work.
Mr. Bounous was born April 24, 1951, in Burke County, a son of the late Henry and Ruth Small
Bounous. He was a member of East Valdese Baptist Church and was employed as a parts
associate with Everette Chevrolet in Hickory. Jimmy was also employed with Auto Zone in
Valdese. He knew his job very well and was always very helpful with his knowledge of what you
needed and where to find it in a timely manner. Jimmy loved to work on cars and play music.
He was a self- taught musician, playing the guitar solo or with a band.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Debbie Jones Bounous of the home,
a son, Colby Bounous and wife Rececca of Hiddenite, a daughter, Julie Huffman and husband
Jared of Connelly Springs, a brother, Gary Jones of Valdese and a sister, Connie Isaacs of
Charlotte. Also surviving are the apples of his eyes, his grandchildren, Ruthie Bounous, Boone
Huffman and one on the way .
Funeral Services for James O. (Jimmy) Bounous will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday November 1,
2024 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Services, with Rev. Terry Jordan officiating. Interment
will follow in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service.
