Roger Clay “Chopz” Whisnant, 58, of Drexel, passed away on Monday August 21, 2023 at his residence.
Roger was born February 9, 1965 in Burke County to the late Olan Whisnant and Lois Dula Whisnant. He was an avid motorcycle rider and a loyal member of the Twisted Covenant MSC. Roger attended Freedom Biker Church in Hickory and was a protector of children and never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Katherine Danette.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Rogers Whisnant; children, Jessica Whisnant, Jonathan Whisnant, Truman Walton and wife Stephanie, and Melody Gibson (Michael); grandchildren, Serenity, Wyatt, Raelynn, and Fysher; brothers, Randy Whisnant and Richard Whisnant and wife Kathy; nephews, Jason Whisnant and wife Amy, Jamie Shell, and Matthew Eldreth; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and mother-in-law, Judy Little.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Freedom Biker Church with Pastor Phil Goins officiating.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.

I just want to say Roger was a very good soul he will never be forgotten because one day a young man kid entry the biker church and a total stranger Roger was sent to my grandson Kayden Broome Kayden come home on a Sunday told his mom all of us about this really cool man he said is my friend we said well good he said look mom that man gave me his hat he had for a very long time he a real biker lol we did at Kayden he was then telling the story of his best friend and Roger was his best friend to Kayden Broome he passed away with cancer but hay Roger can now ride Kayden around heaven just as he did here on earth God needed a angel 😇
My heart is so full of sadness for Crystal and her family and friends. Roger was a great guy! There was no greater love story than that of Roger and Crystal. Only the good die young and he was definitely a good one! Wrapping my arms around Crystal. RIP Roger, RIDE ON!!
