Robert Thomas Seagle, born on June 28, 1933, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, peacefully passed away April 20, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his family, and the memories of a life well-lived. Bob, as he was affectionately known, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Bob’s journey began in the heart of North Carolina, where he was raised in Lincoln County by his parents John William Seagle and Annie Sain Seagle. He is now reunited with them, his devoted wife Norma Seagle, and his beloved son, Mark Douglas Seagle, who preceded him in death.
In January 1952, Bob answered the call to serve his country by joining the US Air Force. For over two decades, until January 1975, he dedicated himself to protecting the nation and exploring the world. Rising through the ranks to the esteemed position of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8), Bob’s commitment to duty and honor was unwavering.
Following his military career, Bob transitioned to the House Division of the United States Capitol Police in April 1975, where he continued to serve with dedication until August 1990. His service extended beyond his uniform, as he remained an active member of his community in Rutherford College.
Bob and Norma retired in Rutherford College, where they found fulfillment in supporting their community. Bob’s active participation in Meals on Wheels and various other community organizations reflected his generous spirit and compassionate nature. He touched countless lives with his kindness and selflessness.
Among all his endeavors, Bob held his role as a grandpa in the highest regard. His boundless affection and unwavering support for his beloved granddaughter, were palpable in every cherished moment they shared. As she carries forward his legacy of love, kindness, and compassion, his influence will resonate through the generations, leaving an enduring imprint on those who knew him and cherished his love.
As we bid farewell to Bob, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering. May he now enjoy peaceful strolls to the post office and sip on Norma’s sweet tea in the eternal sunshine. Bob’s memory will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of goodness and love.
The family will have a private viewing and entombment at Burke Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amorem Hospice in Bob’s honor. Their unwavering support during his passing was invaluable.
Forever in our hearts, Bob’s legacy will continue to shine brightly, reminding us of the profound impact one good man can have on the world. Rest in peace, sweet Grandpa. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
