Mr. Robert Lee Cook, 61, of Morganton NC, passed away on Thursday January 2, 2025, at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge, after a brief illness.
Mr. Cook was born on September 26, 1963, in Burke County a son of the late Homer Gene and Minnie Sue Setzer Cook. Robert was a member of the Shining Light Baptist Church serving as the bus driver and in charge of the bus maintenance. He was employed as a mechanic and as the owner and operator of Cooks Garage and Salvage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Howard Cook.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Wagner Cook of the home, sons, Jason Alen Laws of Lenoir, Roger Lee Cook (Crystal) of Morganton, Jack Sidney Lee Cook of Morganton, Homer Cook of Morganton, and Roger Lee Cook, Jr. of Morganton. Also surviving are his siblings, Frances Mayfield, Wanda Cook, Loretta Cook, Tommy Cook, Carlos Cook and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday January 7, 2025, in the Shining Light Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Castle officiating.
The family will receive friends following the services at Shinning Light Baptist Church.

I’m so sorry that he is gone. He was a strict but loving man from what I heard. I had only met him a few times but it takes a certain kind of good person to adopt raise as many kids that he did. But my prayers go out to his family. I’m very sorry for you guys.

Robert was one of a kind. Known him most of my life and never once seen him refuse to help someone in need. His passing just makes this cruel and unfair world even darker. I’m gonna miss you Cook.
