Mr. Robert Lee Benfield, 74, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Friday April 5, 2024, at UNC Healthcare, Morganton, after a period of declining health.

Mr. Benfield was born January 23, 1950, in Burke County, a son of the late Robert Van Buren Benfield and Kathryn Warlick Benfield.  He was a retired truck driver and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hanging out with his friends at the Happy Day Grocery and watching the Little Rascals TV Show.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dion Lee Bristol.

Surviving are his daughter, Chanel Owensby and husband Donald R. of Newton, and his grandchildren, Brandon Owensby, Christopher Owensby, Bridgett Evans, his great-grandchild, Kaylen Lackey and his best friend, his former wife, Patricia Evans.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Pastor Joe Dempsey officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4:00+ until 5:00 P.M. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
