Relma Jeanette Cook Berry passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Mission Health following a period of declining health.
Jeanette was born March 17, 1940 to the late Forrest and Bessie Cook in Burke County, North Carolina. She was a CNA at Grace Hospital until she retired. She was a member of United Baptist Church in Valdese. Jeanette enjoyed fellowship at Morganton Senior Citizen Center and helped with Christmas Cheer for many years. She loved doing crafts, telling jokes, playing bingo, and taking time to eat out with family and friends. More than anything else, she loved her cats, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Marvin Berry; daughters, Helen and Kathy; five brothers; and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Charles (Teresa) Berry; daughter, Della (Jay); grandson, Bryan (Tina); granddaughter, Shannon; great-granddaughter, Story; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at United Baptist Church Cemetery with Steve Ramsey officiating.
A Receiving of Friends will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals at (828)433-1115.
I am so sorry for your loss. Jeanette was a great woman that was God fearing and loved talking about her Lord. I worked with Jeanette many years at Grace. I learned a lot from her not only taking care of the sick, but a lot about the simpler things in life. She loved her family only second to God. I know she will be greatly missed.
