Mrs. Reba Jean Haney Greene, 92, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
April 3, 2024, at her residence, following a period of declining health.
Reba was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior, who she faithfully served. Then she
was greeted by the love of her life, Harold, who she was married to for 48 years, and
grandsons, Aaron and Robert, along with her parents, brothers and sisters.
Reba was born on February 2, 1932, in Yancey County to the late William Clifford Haney and
Rosa Peterson Haney. She was a member of Hibriten Baptist Church, where she was a faithful
member for 45 years. She retired from Alba Waldensian, where she worked as a seamstress
for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Harold Greene,
seven siblings: Allzenia Price, Paul Haney, Everett Haney, Zula Robbins, Jim Haney, Vaughn
Haney and Louise Messer, and two grandsons, Robert Smith and Aaron Guy.
Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah Smith of the home, Donna Duncan (Danny Price)
of Rutherford College, and two sisters, Doris Hoke and husband Max, of Lenoir, and Rita Barger
of Hickory. Also surviving is a granddaughter, LaToya Coffey and husband, Joey, of Hudson,
two great-grandchildren, Michael Coffey and Mackennia Coffey of Hudson along with numerous
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Haney, Bill Price, Ronnie Holman, Tyler Soots, Deon Price and Rev.
Bud McLean.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Hibriten Baptist Church
with Rev. Douglas Cox and Rev. Rick Crouse officiating. Entombment will follow at the
Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family and friends will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Hibriten
Baptist Church.
