Mr. Rassie Swink, Jr. 85,, of Drexel, passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 5, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Swink was born February 28, 1937 in McDowell County, a son of the late Rassie Swink, Sr. and Texie Webb Swink.  He retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture as a Master Carver.  Rassie was a loving husband, father, grandfather  and great-grandfather.  He loved the outdoors, farming, gardening and growing tomatoes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Patsy Swink, Linda Poteat, granddaughter Amanda Swink, grandson Daniel Holder, sister, Judy Duckworth and brothers, Paul, Kenneth , Ray and Bobby Swink.

Surviving, are, his wife, Jane Stamey Swink of the home, children, Mike Swink (Cindy) of Drexel, Doris Pearson (Ernie) of Valdese, Rebecca Rockwell (John) of Drexel, son-in-law Jerry Poteat, brother, Jerry Swink  and sister Shirley Fulbright (Doug) .  Also surviving are the apple of his eye, his grandchildren, Gavin Swink, Jessica Norman, Ashley Rockwell, Robert Poteat and Jennifer Poteat, great-grandchildren  Mackenzie and Maddox Norman, Riley Shade, Madison Watts and Corbin Poteat and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Rassie Swink, Jr. will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday December 7, 2022, in the Solid Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Stacey Layne officiating.  Interment will follow in the Solid Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Solid Rock Baptist Church.
