Randy Scott “The Root” Rhyne, 73, of Connelly Springs gained his angel wings on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Carolina Caring following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Randy was born July 10, 1951 in Catawba County to the late Hoover Rhyne and Edith Hudson Rhyne. He was lovingly known as Uncle PawPaw to many who loved him, loved cutting up and being the life of the party.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Ransom and Lula Hudson; and brothers, Dean Rhyne and Tommy Rhyne.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty two years, Brenda Kay Hildebran Rhyne; daughters, Scottie Rhyne Ross and husband Jay, and Tricia Pitts; bonus daughter, Cindy Kiziah; grandchildren, Garrett Pitts, Ryley Rhyne, Raven Rhyne, Jaleah Ross, and Noah Lawrence; and bonus grandchildren, Michael Stewart, Serenity Tugman, and Kanan Horton. Also surviving is his brother, Kenny Rhyne and fiancé Charlotte; sister, Sherry Zorn and husband Clay; favorite cousin, Brianna “Breezy” Rowe; best friends, Gary Fox, Larry Chapman, Dennis Lawter, Dennis Sells, and Clyde Dameron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 3:30 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Dwight Lowman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM on Saturday prior to the service.

I will miss Randy and his phone calls. He always called to check on me and my kids if he saw bad weather was in our area. He was one of the friends I consider to be family. I’m so glad we got to see him when I was in town for a family funeral in June. Prayers for Brenda and the family.

Gary and I are so sorry to hear of Randy’s passing. Our family has seen way too much grief this year. We send our love and prayers to all during this time.
Randy was a good friend . He left me with alot of good memories that will never be forgotten. God bless his family and love ones in this time of hardship and sorry. RIP ol friend until we meet again.
