Mr. Phillip Dean Buchanan, 60, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Thursday June 15, 2023 at UNC Healthcare, Morganton, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Buchanan was born July 18, 1962 ,in Catawba County, a son of Grace Dellinger Buchanan and the late Tarp Buchanan. Phillip was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Connelly
Springs, serving as a choir member before his illness. He was a humble servant and talked with the Lord on a daily basis. Phillip was always concerned about others and how they were doing, even during his own illness. He retired from Broughton Hospital after 22 years of faithful service as an Environmental Technician.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Lowman Buchanan of the home, his mother Grace Dellinger Buchanan of Hickory, a daughter, Briana Ferguson and husband Rev. Anthony Ferguson of Lenoir, two sons, Eric Duckworth of Connelly Springs and Jeremy Duckworth and wife Crissy of Hickory, three brothers, Michael Buchanan, Dennis Buchanan and Mark Buchanan. Also surviving are the apples of his eye his grandchildren, Preston Alan Duckworth, Kenyen Ferguson , Haven Ferguson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Phillip Dean Buchanan will be held 3:30 P.M. Sunday June 18, 2023 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Connelly Srings,with Rev. Curtis Carroll, Rev. Dwayne Buchanan, Rev. Daniel Buchanan and Rev. Anthony Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3:30 P.M. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

So sorry for your family, but I rejoice for Phillip canning beans in heaven with a cool breeze. He loved telling me year to year how much he got from his garden and how long he worked putting it up.

Grace, Dennis, Mark, MIchael, Debra and family prayers to all of with the loss of Phillip. He was a very sweet, kind and caring person and will be missed. David being a neighbor growing up with him knew him better than I did. If you didn’t know him all the previous comments says it all about him, loved by his co-workers, good, kind and a humble man.
