Perry G. Anthony
Perry Gene Anthony, 75, of Drexel, departed this life to his heavenly home on Saturday February 25, 2023 at Carolina Caring following a period of declining health.
Perry was born on March 1, 1947 in Burke County to the late James William Anthony and Norene Franklin Anthony. He was a maintenance supervisor for Burke County Public Schools, and was a member of the Drexel Fire Department. Perry was President of the Bass Master Club, a softball player at Drexel First Church of God, and coached various sports in the Drexel community. Perry loved fishing and loved his family and church family. He was an active member of the Drexel First Church of God, and was the right hand man at the Drexel Barber Shop.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Anthony of the home; his daughter, Terri Walker and fiancé’ Keith Nations; his son, Kevin Anthony; his grandchildren, Joshua Dale and wife Brianna, Brittany Dale and fiancé’ Wes Teague, Tyler Anthony and wife Ashley, Greyson Anthony, Khloie, Oaklee, Zeke, and Abigail; also surviving is his brother, Janson Anthony and wife Kathy; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 5, 2023 at Drexel First Church of God Cemetery, with Rev. Jake Eldridge and Rev. Kyle Cannerday officiating.

Perry Anthony loved life and filled it with lots of laughter. Many memories fill my mind of all the years of knowing Perry. The days ahead with be sad for his family and then they will see him when they look around at the things he loved throughout each day that they continue their journey here…

I was surprised to see hiw much he had changed since high school. I remember the little chubby guy who ride my buss. He grew up into a handsome and talented man. Perry and I had many good times together when we were younger and then we moved too many miles apart for so many years. Claranne and I cherished our friendship with you and Perry and wish we had spent more time together. We will see you at the graveside service. May God protect and comfort you and family at this time.

So very sorry to hear of Perry’s death. I will be praying for Brenda and his children, praying for Jan and Kathy as well. I remember the Merrymates Class we all attended at Drexel CHOG.
