Peggy Perrou Verreault passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in Valdese, NC, Peggy was the daughter of the late François Augusta and Janie Pons Perrou. Peggy was a member of Young Memorial Church in Anderson. She completed coursework at Blanton Business College in Asheville, NC and worked in various places throughout her career, primarily at Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, NC State University, and Russell & Axon, an engineering firm in Anderson. Peggy enjoyed volunteer work, which included teaching Sunday School, tutoring, Meals on Wheels and Anderson Interfaith Ministries. She even served as Den Mother for a local Cub Scout Troop. Her hobbies included reading, music, theater, painting and baking goods for others to enjoy. However, her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, John F. Verreault, Jr.; son, John F. Verreault III and wife, Charlotte, of Spartanburg; daughter, Kimberly V. O’Brien of Anderson; grandchildren, Ashley O’Brien Predmore (Tim), Matthew K. O’Brien (fiancée Rebekah Byland), Kaitlyn O’Brien Handell (Todd) and Margaret Bailey Verreault; sister, Josephine Yoder of Pensacola, FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Patrick M. O’Brien; brothers, Stephen Perrou, Albert Perrou, Benjamin Perrou and Ernest Perrou; sisters, Madeline Blizard, Anita West, Adeline Murray and Clementine Butler.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 10, from 11:00 to 12:00, at Young Memorial Church, 508 Boulevard, Anderson, SC. A memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary immediately following visitation.

A private interment will take place at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Valdese, NC on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Young Memorial Church.
