Mrs. Paula Ruth Key Staten, 91, of Connelly Springs, formally of Lenoir, passed peacefully at Amorem Hospice, Valdese, on November 21, 2024. She was surrounded by her family of whom she so dearly loved.

Mrs. Staten was born on June 25, 1933, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Elijah Roscoe and Lilly Pearl Greene Key. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Lenell Staten, a daughter, Donna Elaine Franklin Watson, a great-granddaughter, Erin Hannah Cornelia Cornell, and 10 siblings.

Surviving are her granddaughters, Chonda Cook (Brian), Autumn Turner (Paris), and LaShaya Adams. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her great-grandchildren, Trace Cook, Scottie Huffman (Duncan), Cache Hickman, Olivia Turner, Blake Turner, Faith Adams, Brookstyn Adams, and Saban Adams.

Mrs. Staten retired from Broyhill Furniture where she worked as an industrial seamstress. She loved to read, especially autobiographies and the Bible. She devoted her life to all her grandchildren and loved every opportunity she had to watch them grow. She was a devoted member at Baton Baptist Church. In earlier years, Paula served as a Sunday School teacher in the young children’s department, a position where she felt honored to serve the Lord. She would watch Baton Baptist and Union Grove Baptist online services when she was not physically able to attend. Above all, Paula loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services for Paula Ruth Key Staten will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Rev. Jonathan Puckett officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at Heritage Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lenoir.
