Mrs. Ollie Sue Smith Dawson, 73, of George Hildebrand, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Dawson was born July 13, 1950, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Robert and Mozelle Cleo Canipe Smith. Ollie retired as a knitter from the hosiery manufacturing industry after many years of dedicated service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Smith, James Smith and sisters, Alice Byrd and Annie Lou Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Bobby Craig (Sue) of George Hildebrand, Everette Craig of Valdese, John Craig of George Hildebrand and daughter, Betty Russell (Chris) of Bostic. Also surviving is a sister, Linda Smith. and the apples of her eye, her seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Leah), Jason, Blake, Wesley (Trinity), Shannon, Tabitha, Harley, great-grandson, Mavarick and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ollie Dawson will be held at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, July 14, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Nicholas Russell and Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4:00, Sunday, at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.

Very sorry to hear the passing of Aunt Ollie Sue, I remember when Sue first took me to meet aunt Ollie at her trailer, She was very excited to see me and often kept in contact through Facebook. She was one of the sweetest women you’d meet. My love, thoughts and prayers are with my cousins Bobby, Betty, John and Everette.

Sue was always such a sweet lady. She was so nice to Roger and I when we were in church together. Glad I got to know her and her sweet children. They are such a loving family and she will be missed by all. Praying for the family.
