Mrs. Nancy McClellan Abee Bentley, 74, of Hickory and Spruce Pine, passed away on Monday February 26, 2024, at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Bentley was born December 19, 1949, in Avery County, a daughter of the late Oscar and Iva Buchanan McClellan. Nancy was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church, where she served as a childrens Sunday School Teacher. She retired as Assistant Superintendent with Jobst Carolina, a manufacturer of medical equipment.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Abee, a brother Ralph McClellan and a sister, Kathy Burleson.
Surviving are her husband Charles Bentley of the home, a son Michael Abee and wife, Ciejae of Valdese, step-children, Dayle B. Helms of Myrtle Beach, SC, Charles Wayne Bentley (Jennifer) of Conover and Gene Bentley (Deborah) of Hickory. a brother, Charles McClellan of Spruce Pine and a sister, JoAnn Ford of Spruce Pine. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her grandchildren, Tayler Abee, Grace Kaczynski, Logan Malsom, Elaina Hadden, Amber Elliott, Brandon Bentley, Leslie Bentley, great-grandchildren, Anna Bentley, Max Bentley, Brianna Bentley and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Nancy Bentley will be held at 1:00 PM Monday March 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Rev. Austin McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Abee Family Cemetery, Connelly Springs, NC.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. Monday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
