Mildred Faye Randolph McCall, 76, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Carolina Caring Hospice, following a period of declining health.
Mildred was born February 28, 1947 in Erwin, Tennessee to the late Stanley Randolph and Tassie Guinn Poston. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Morganton and was an avid beekeeper, a hobby which she shared with her husband, daughter and son in-law, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with her husband of 55 years. Mildred loved shopping at “Jingles” (aka, TJ Maxx) with her daughter Margaret and binge watching Dr. Pol and spending time with her family, especially her grandson Ryan – who could always light up the room for her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Daniel McCall; sisters, Judy Weatherholtz, and Zula Whisenant; brothers, Scott Randolph, and Steve Randolph; step-father, Charles Poston; and her beloved and trusted German Shepherds, Roxy, Zar, Lily, and Duke.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Giese and husband Stan of Valdese; grandson, Ryan Giese of Valdese; sister, Carol Whisenant of Morganton; brother, Benny Randolph; sister-in-law, Joyce McCall Wright; and longtime friend, Patricia “Pat” Simmerer.
A private graveside service will be held at Faith Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Morganton with Rev. Terry Robinson officiating at a later date.
The family would also like to send a special thanks to Carolina Caring for their care and support for the family over the past week.
Memorials may be sent to Faith Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 1225, Glen Alpine, NC 28628.
