It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Mr. Michael Wayne Powell, 66, of Maiden, on Friday January 10, 2025, at Atrium Lincoln Hospital after a period of declining health.
Mr. Powell was born, December 24, 1958, in Columbus, GA, a son of Carrie White Powell and the late Lowell Thomas Powell. Michael enjoyed life, bowling, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He was a former member of East Valdese Baptist Church and retired as a plant manager with Lane Furniture Co.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his half- brother, Jeffrey Powell.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his daughters, Amber Hammons (Kelvis Dula) of Hickory, Christina Carson and husband, Nick of Maiden, mother, Carrie White Powell of Morganton, brothers, Doug Powell, Ernie Powell, sister, Tammy Cannon, half-sisters, Susan Ingram, Doris White and Janie Roberts. Also surviving are the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Ashton, Isaiah, Brianna, Peyton, Benjamin and Sydney.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday January 14, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Pastor Brennan Travis officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
