Mr. Michael Robert “Mike” Trueheart, 85, of Lenoir, NC, passed away on Sunday January 14, 2024 at Amorem Burke Hospice, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Trueheart was born June 13, 1938, in Manhattan, N.Y., a son of the late Donald and Mary Branigan Trueheart. Mike was retired as a detective with the N.Y. City Police Department and after retirement he operated at different times a Steak House, a car lot and thrift store. He enjoyed people and being busy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Delores “Cookie” Trueheart, a daughter, Sandra Greene and a brother, Donnie Trueheart.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Mary Abernathy Trueheart of the home, his children; Michael Trueheart, Jr. Deborah T. Meiners, (Sean), Linda Stinnett (Mike Roberson), Jeremy Abernathy (Christie), Jamie Abernathy (Lori), Amy Bailey (Allen), Grandchildren, Scott Bender (Angela), Bob Bender (Beth), Michele Bender, Kelly Zimmerman (Zac), Sean Meiners, Jr, (Sarah), Kerri Lambert (Spencer), Tyler Greene (Jessica), Samantha Greene, Sage and Mason Abernathy, Hannah, Jacob and Kirstin Porter, Caleb Bearer, Cadence, Cooper and Audrey and 23 great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 21, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Ronnie Lefevers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
