Mike Carter was one of the finest men and Police Officer I had ever had the opportunity to work with. I called him the gentle giant, but also the Man you wanted in your corner when times got tough. Sargent you will be missed , thanks for all the great trainings and wonderful stories. God speed my friend.
Mike

My condolences are extended to family and friends. I have known and worked with Mike for many years. In retirement, we socialized from time to time. He was a big man who had an even bigger heart. I will always remember your friendship and the times we spent together. Rest easy brother.
Mike was a terrific sergeant with HPD. I worked with him for many years. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was always there if you needed him. He will be missed terribly. Prayers for his family and friends.
I worked with Mike for years. He was a great guy, good friend and a fine police officer. He taught me many “on job” related ways to handle police matters. Although I know he is in a better place now, he will be missed on this side of life. Rest in peace my friend! 💙

Kristy and family: We are so sorry for your loss. We remember wonderful times with Mike at fly-ins, camping at Rainel with our planes, motorcyle rides, many great gatherings with laughter and always Mike’s great sense of humor. He had a genuine kindness of heart that everyone recognized and appreciated the moment they met him. What a heart he had in caring for others. We will miss you Mike. You live on in our hearts, in the many lives you touched and made better. Rest now in Heaven, in everlasting joy and peace. You’ve earned your reward. We are sad for us now but, by faith we will see you again.
Mike was my first Sargent when I started at the Hickory Police Department. He taught me so many things on how to handle certain calls and people. You definitely will be missed Sarge. Prayers for the family at this difficult time
Great times with Mike on the old Adam and Baker teams. Breakfast at Hal’s Burger Barn, radar, lunch at Reynolds’s, more radar, get off work and go fishing on Lake Hickory. Great days! Mike was a fine police officer and a fantastic person and friend. Rest in peace my fishing and hunting buddy.
Mike was a good friend of my family. He knew my Mom and Roxie and me from a restaurant he would frequent years ago with his Sergeant, Bill Gray. He was so nice to us all. Everyone loved him at the restaurant. He was so thoughtful when I lost my Mom and sister years ago. He will be missed. Prayers for his family. God be with you all.
