Melba Delores Tensley Greene, 78, of Lenoir, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Melba was born September 18, 1946 in Burke County to the late John Henry Tensley and Blanche Little Tensley. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and retired from the furniture industry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Ray Greene; son-in-law, Kelly Tomlinson; grandson, Brandon Dula; brothers, Ricky Tensley and John Henry Tensley; sisters, Tonya Cook and Teresa Miller; and brother-in-law, Billy Hamby.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Ray Greene and wife Lora; daughter, Tammy Ann Tomlinson; grandchildren, Steven Dula, Stephanie Kirby and husband Josh, Donna Shaver and husband Adam, and Donald Abernathy; and great-grandchildren, Eli Kirby, Macie Kirby, Taryn Shaver, Brandon Dula, James Porter, and Aubrey Shaver. Also surviving are her brothers, Lawrence Tensley, and Terry Tensley; sisters, Janice Hamby, and Debra Branch and husband John; and sister-in-law, Christine Tensley.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Baker officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.
