Matthew Edward Clay, 48, of Morganton, departed this life to his heavenly home on Thursday December 1, 2022 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Matthew was born on January 13, 1974 in Cleveland, OH to the late Arlie Raymond Clay, Sr. and Geraldine Marie Clay from Naoma, West Virginia.
Mr. Clay is survived by his soulmate Renee Atkins; his daughters, Samantha Weese and husband Taylor and Maddie Clay; his son, Ronnie Roberts, Jr. and wife Gwendolyn; his three brothers, Arlie Clay, Jr. and wife Beverly, Ronnie Clay and wife Beverly, Joseph Clay and wife Chasity; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Matt will be remembered for his passion for outdoors, building and repairs on cars. Matt had an abundance of friends and family to share great memories with.
The Clay Family will receive friends Wednesday December 7, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory in Valdese. Cremation will follow the visitation and the family would like this time to themselves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VIA Hospice, 101 Lenoir Street Morganton, NC 28655.
