Mary Louise Hart Hipps, 80, of Valdese, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024, at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health.
Mary was born on September 21, 1943, in Burke County, a daughter of the late William Ray Hart and Annie Hildebrand Hart. She dearly loved her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hipps is preceded in passing by her sisters, Dorothy Hart Anderson, Emma Jean Punch, and Geneva Hilton; in-laws, Thurman and Durlean Hipps; brother-in-law, Dewey Hipps; and her beloved husband of 42 years, Marvin Hipps.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Janice (Bernard) Greer; grandchildren, Dusty (Laura) Huffman, Dannielle Huffman, and Davey Huffman; two greatgrandchildren, KeyLeigh Huffman and Raylin Huffman; sisters, Edith Lovett of Charlotte and Onieda Abee of Hickory; sister-in-law, Sheila Walker of Valdese; best friend of many years, Betty Sue Lail, and special caregiver, Patricia Wright.
The family will hold a Memorial Service at Abee’s Grove Baptist Church on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Rudy Hayes and Pastor Danny Townsend officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the Hipps family.

Saddened to see that Mary is gone. She was a joy to see each day she came to the library. I truly loved Mary and will miss her terribly.
