Lucille Hudson Swink, 79, of Connelly Springs, departed this life to her heavenly home on Sunday January 29, 2023 at UNC Healthcare, Blue Ridge in Morganton following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Swink was born on July 14, 1943 in Burke County to the late Santas Hudson and Essie Hudson. She was a homemaker, and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed traveling, reading, eating out, and 60’s music. She was a proud graduate of George Hildebrand High School, class of 1961.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Shorty” Swink; her brothers, Carl Powell, Donald Hudson, and Harold Hudson.
Survivors include her son, Michael Swink; her nephews, Darrell Powell, Norman Powell, Ray Tallent, and Jason Carswell; her nieces, Becky Tallent, Penny Towery, Debbie Wright, Donna Godfrey, Janet Kanupp, Amy English, Tracy Fredell, and Angelica Shook.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday February 2, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Doug Price and Rev. Jason Hoyle officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Lucille was a great Godly Lady,who always had a good word to say about anyone in our church;Sweetheart was what she was.
Michael ,so very sorry about the passing of your mom a very sweet lady and classmate. Lucille did not die she just changed addresses. Hugs and prayers for all the family.
I always remember Lucille being at church. And singing in the choir down at the front.
Lucil)e will truly be missed. Everything we had church she was always there. She was faithful. My momma was in her Sunday school class and every time they went beach they always invited me and we had a good time. Not only is the church going to miss her I’m going to miss my Christian friend.
