Mrs. Louise Powell Owens, 92, of Valdese went home to her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on February 23, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a period of declining health.
Louise was born March 12, 1930 in Burke County to the late Robert Lee and Mary Etta Watts Powell. She was a member at Way of the Cross in Morganton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by companion, Leonard Walker; sons, Jerry Allan Owens, and Donald Gary Solesby, Jr.; brothers, Dolphus, Lewis, Robert, Ed, Tillman, Charles, Julius, and Darrell Powell; sisters, Elsie Shell, Ann Williams, Verlie Lambert; son-in-law, Eddie Triplett; and grandson, T.J. Owens.
Survivors include her daughters, Wanda Triplett, Donna Powell (Gary), and Vickie Roebuck (Jamie) of Valdese; sons, Terry Owens (Peggy) of Raleigh, and Mark Owens (Jennifer) of Lake Placid, NY; sisters, Mary Bailey of Morganton and Ethel Pearson of Lenoir; grandchildren, Brian Triplett (Melissa), Wendy Wilson (Mike), Kristen Powell, Garet Powell (Halee), Adam Banner, Zach Goforth, Lawson Roebuck , Jesse Owens, Hali Solesby, Lauren Austin (Justin), Elizabeth Owens, and Brady Owens; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with the Rev. Richard Ellington officiating.
Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, on Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
