Mr. Lloyd Conley Powell Jr., passed away on Thursday December 19, 2024, at Carolina Caring Hospice in Sherrills Ford, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Powell was born September 6, 1930, in Burke County, a son of the late Lloyd C. Powell, Sr. and Irene Griffin Powell. Lloyd was retired from J Iverson Riddle Development Center and was a former employee of Drexel Heritage Furniture Co. He served his country well as a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion where he served by buying and placing flags on deceased veterans graves every year on Veterans Day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan Brown Powell, a sister Franceleen Ward and a grandson, Malachi Ferrell.
Surviving are his daughter, Ethel Ann Powell and three sons, Jeffrey Powell (Lee) of Hudson, Douglas Powell (Alexandria) of Morganton and Michael Powell (Janice) of Elkin. Also surviving are his ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Lloyd Powell will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday December 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Jacob Powell officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors by the NC National Guard in the Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Service.

Lloyd you will be missed!! I worked with you at Drexel and we had so much fun together. You loved to laugh and have fun while we worked. You treated everyone like you wanted to be treated.
